AutoCAD 20.1 [2022] The software is developed by Autodesk. Its initial release was a set of 64-bit ASCII bitmap files produced on a HP-1000 by Grafico Software, Inc., a company Autodesk acquired in late-1987. Two applications were released for the Apple II, one of which was a beta version of AutoCAD. Additional products and upgrades followed. The native file format for AutoCAD is DWG, which is derived from Drawings for Windows. DWG files can be read by other CAD programs like AutoCAD LT and merged into PDF files for import into other software applications.
